The Results Were Thrilling
Three experienced Kindergarten teachers at Cascade Elementary School in Marysville introduced Perfect Equation to their new class for the 2024-25 school year. The results were truly thrilling; I felt goosebumps as I observed the children collaborating with their teachers.
In the words of Sarah Hitchman, 23-year veteran teacher of Kindergarten and First grade, “This is the first time in my career that the kids are composite to 10, which is an end of First Grade standard. They love the “Digit Hotel” as it has taught the kids place value through a daily routine that they look forward to. This breaks all barriers Kindergarten students can accomplish in understanding Place Value and being able mentally compute combinations of numbers to 5 and 10 without counting on their fingers or using the “counting-on” method.
Shandi Smith - Kindergarten Teacher at Cascade Elementary and has taught Kindergarten for eight years. Shandi had the same results as Sarah and said, “This is what has been missing in math, and it is so easy.” She especially liked the bead strings that helped the students master magnitude of quantity using patterning and color.
Jennifer Knokey - Kindergarten Teacher at Cascade Elementary has taught Kindergarten for 14 years confirmed that her students had also had outstanding progress just as Shandi and Sarah’s students did. She was particularly happy with the bead strings and the “Digit Hotel”which taught her students Place Value and understanding of the Base 10 number system.
Kindergarteners can learn Place Value! Now is the time to teach our young students the joy of math in our new AI world. In no time in history is the profound understanding of Place Value and Mathematics more important.
Perfect Equation is the Perfect Solution!
